Strelitzia Reginae

The distinctive bird of paradise (Strelitzia spp.) is one of the best-known tropical flowers. It is closely related to the( banana plant).The most thing that this plant famous for is it’s flower that closely resembling the tropical bird of the same name so the plant called the same name .It’s flower moves outside in the summer and thrives for half the year, so it’s important thing in landscape.

It is a very famous ornamental plant in the Mediterranean specifically in the Middle East . There is many places and uses very much in open spaces, private gardens , public and important places .It plants only as an individual ,pictorial model and its flowers are suitable for picking ,it’s flowers are famous for a long vase life, in addition to planting it in pots.

It has many uses else  like planting  it in groups in gardens as mentioned before , use it to create borders or edge along walkways or garden beds and its color of its flower adds a beautiful touch.

Strelitzia are beautiful plants that can be successfully grown inside, the biggest drawbacks are their size; they can grow 5 to 6 feet tall.

The trick to successful growth indoors is bright light with direct sun, regular watering, and warmth.

 Feed the plant with compost early in spring before new growth begins and fertilize every week during the growing season.

In general it needs bright light, including some direct sunlight, rich, well-drained soil and we can’t forget that the plant is a heavy feeder .
